Decarbonisation is a structured program, embedded in the operating and business strategy of the company, aimed at organically reducing the total CO2 footprint through material and energy efficiencies and choices of green energy and green material sources. As a prerequisite, the program would require solid understanding of the current CO2 footprint and what the key contributors are. The company which undergoes the decarbonisation program should also expect to reduce its operating costs and to improve its credibility and competitiveness in the eyes of key customers and investors. This is closely related to the following tools: A.3.2 (Suppliers’ CO2 footprint), and A4.1 (Value Stream Map Supply Chain)
