Design to Cost is developing understanding how to design products to cost targets. It is anchoring several cross-functional disciplines to NPD. Design engineers are typically not so much focused on the cost aspect, nor they see it from different angles. The cause-effect of early design decisions will later have potentially significant impact on the product profitability. This module will give insights how to build the correct mindset around achievement of desired cost for new products.

- Initial training (1~2 days) followed by practical implementation discussion

- Support NPD team in setting a realistic cost target
- Introduce relevant NPD project activities in the project plan
- Execute per plan and document cost development over project milestones (part of the Milestone Governance – see C.2.9)
