Resource Management enables the project to be populated with relevant resources in all project phases. The resource requirements may vary throughout the project, and sometimes unexpected project situations/outcomes do require additional resources at hand. As there is no magic and simple prescriptive way to assign resources, this skill largely depend on consolidated empirical knowledge being generated in the organisation. Equally examples of good practise should be always documented. Effective Resource Management relies on having a realistic project plan (see also E.2.15)  in place, developed by the core project team.

  • Objectives/Key learning points
    • Understand the principles behind effective resource management
    • Develop guidelines for the client organisation for resources’ allocation to projects
    • Being aware of the challenges of assigning resources to projects in the matrix organisation
  • Teaching Methodology
    • Short theoretical introduction backed up by examples of good practise
  • Implementation Methodology
    • On the project implementation – ideally the resource plan should be developed for an entire project portfolio
