Design for Service is a process of making decisions during the product design phases to improve the ease of installation, maintenance, upgrades, repairs, and decommissioning of the device. This is important, along with device reliability, to minimize the cost of ownership of the device. Ultimately, this reduces complaints (warranty claims) and improves customer perception of the product and product support.
